What Do I Wear After My Spray Tan Appointment?
When it comes to preparing for your spray tan appointment, choosing the right clothing is crucial to ensure a flawless and even tan. While many of us may focus on what to wear, it's equally important to know what NOT to wear after your spray tan session.
Here's a breakdown of clothing items to avoid to achieve the best results:
Tank Tops: Tank tops expose large areas of your skin, which can result in uneven tan lines or tan transfer to other body parts.
Jeans and Jean Shorts: Tight denim clothing can rub against your skin and cause the tan to wear off unevenly or transfer to the fabric.
Tight Leggings: Leggings that are too tight can also cause the tan to rub off or transfer, leading to patchy results.
Tight Sports Bras: Similarly, tight sports bras can create areas of skin-to-skin contact that may result in tan transfer or darker spots.
To avoid these issues, we recommend opting for loose, dark clothing that covers your skin adequately during and after your spray tan appointment. Skin-to-skin contact, especially in areas such as underarms and thighs, can lead to the tan transferring to unintended areas due to body heat. By wearing long sleeves and long pants, you can protect your skin from any potential transfer and ensure a more even tan application.
Additionally, choosing loose clothing not only helps prevent tan transfer but also provides comfort during the setting time of your spray tan. In the event of unexpected weather conditions like rain, being covered in long, dark clothing will help protect your tan from any potential disruptions.
Here’s what we WOULD recommend wearing to your next spray tan appointment:
Long Sleeve Shirts: Normal T-shirts are okay but the longer the better!
Sweatpants: We know this can be harder in the hotter months but it is especially important during these times. Heat is a spray tans worse enemy. We want to avoid any transferring while processing, this can mostly happen at night so no sleeping in your birthday suit. If this is too difficult we recommend going for our rapid rinse option.
Open Toe Shoes: Flip flops are GREAT! But we do live in all four seasons so what then? If it is raining or we have snow is it OKAY to wear sneakers, as long as they are loose. We do not want to lace those bad boys up. Same when it come to rain. We would rather protect your feet from the elements than risk ruining your beautiful tan!
Remember, the more protected your skin is after your spray tan appointment, the better the results will be. By following these clothing guidelines and being mindful of skin-to-skin contact, you can enhance the longevity and appearance of your spray tan.
